Musah Superior, a prominent NPP stalwart and former Tamale Mayor has issued a sharp rebuttal to Kennedy Agyapong’s recent criticism of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, defending the former Vice President’s performance in the 2024 elections and declaring him the party’s strongest hope for 2028.
Responding to Kennedy’s claim that Bawumia’s election results were “abysmal” and grounds for disqualification from future flagbearer races, Musah Superior did not hold back: “He [Kennedy] would have performed worse if he had been our presidential candidate,” he said.
According to Superior, the NPP’s defeat in 2024 was less about Bawumia himself and more about a weakened party structure, an unpopular government, and poor national leadership. He stressed that Bawumia had carried the party for over a decade, describing him as the “storyteller” who helped bring the NPP back to power in 2016.
Superior also listed Bawumia’s appeal, experience, and international credibility as key reasons why he should lead the party again in the 2028 elections. He urged party members not to abandon a man who has shown humility, intelligence, and loyalty o
Calling for a respectful internal race, he appealed to DMB supporters to remain calm and avoid antagonism: “Let’s show kindness and tolerance in the way we relate to other candidates and their supporters.”
Citing past examples like Nana Akufo-Addo’s repeated candidacy before victory, Musah argued that the NPP has a tradition of perseverance — and that Bawumia deserves the same.
“DMB remains the mover and shaker. Let’s all support him,” he concluded.
