The political youth group, Volunteers for SoyaLana, has celebrated its first anniversary, marking a year of grassroots mobilization and community engagement in the Tolon constituency.
The group was inaugurated last year at Chirifoyili in the Northern Region, an event that brought together more than 15,000 people. Since then, Volunteers for SoyaLana has been at the forefront of youth-led campaigns, door-to-door outreach, and voter education initiatives. Leaders of the group say these efforts played a key role in consolidating support for the Member of Parliament for Tolon, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, during the 2024 general elections.
In a statement signed by its convener, Mumin Abukari, popularly known as Dowski, the group highlighted its major achievements. These include constituency-wide tours to engage local youth groups and organizing grassroots campaigns that projected the developmental record of Hon. Iddrisu. Areas of focus, according to the group, included improvements in education, access to potable water, and job creation opportunities for young people.
The statement added that the overwhelming endorsement Hon. Habib received at the polls was evidence of the impact of their outreach.
Looking to the future, Volunteers for SoyaLana pledged to sustain the momentum by expanding voter engagement efforts and amplifying the concerns of constituents. The group also reaffirmed its support for the re-election bid of Hon. Habib Iddrisu and the presidential ambition of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“As we enter our second year, our resolve is stronger than ever to ensure that the values of the NPP and the SoyaLana vision reach every household in Tolon,” the statement concluded.
