Musah Superior accused Mahama’s government of shielding allies as corruption cases are dropped

President John Dramani Mahama’s administration is under mounting criticism following the termination of several high-profile corruption cases involving NDC-linked officials.

Since returning to power in January 2025, the government, through Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine, has discontinued at least eight major prosecutions, raising serious concerns about selective justice and political interference in the legal system.

Among the cases dropped are:

Dr. Stephen Opuni & Seidu Agongo – COCOBOD scandal

Cassiel Ato Forson & Richard Jakpa – €2.37 million ambulance deal

Collins Dauda & others – $200 million Saglemi Housing case

Kwabena Duffuor & others – uniBank-related fraud and money laundering

The Attorney-General argues that these withdrawals are legally justified and in the public interest. In Duffuor’s case, he claims at least 60% of the funds were recovered.

However, critics are not convinced.

“This government is letting its own walk free while pretending to fight corruption,” said Musah Superior, the former mayor of Tamale.

Mr Musah Superior warned that the pattern could undermine years of investigative work and erode public trust in Ghana’s justice. Mr Musah Superior is calling on the president to ensure transparency and independent oversight of prosecutorial decisions.

Mr Musah Superior argue that the government continues to prosecute former NPP officials while protecting its own, a move he believes to be politically motivated.
