โIn a seemingly unprecedented appreciation and endorsement, some chiefs, opinion leaders and youth within the Karaga Constituency of the Northern Region said, they want their Member of Parliament, Hon Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta to remain in Parliament for the next 24 years.
Dr. Amin Adam is going on his second term in Parliament, as first-timer in the Karaga constituency, he won the 2020 and 2024 parliamentary elections respectively.
โAccording to them, Dr. Amin is their surest bet for development, ” and we cannot allow anything to short change that, is it very essential”. They added
The statement of the Chiefs and opinion leaders follows the MPs comments on the media suggesting that he will not seek re-election in the 2028 parliamentary elections, a decision that saddened the people of Karaga, especially supporters of the NPP.
Meanwhile, it is not yet clear why Dr. Amin Anta wants to step-dowm after a successful 2 terms as Member of Parliament for Karaga. Going into the 2024 elections, it was rumoured that, Mr Anta will not stand again, thus his declaration not to re-run in 2028 did not surprise many but hurts deeply the Karaga constituents.
The Karaga Chiefs and Opinion reiterated that, they have totally and outrightly rejected the decision of Mr. Amin Anta but urged him to re-run again for the betterment of the people of Karaga.
“We cannot allow his decision, his decision will hinder progress and development of Karaga. We will go on every length to ensure that he rescind his decision. This is not about the NPP and NDC politics, it is about the development of Karaga constituency and we cannot compromise that”. Opinion in Karaga opined in an interview
“We are not happy with his decision, so we are calling on him to change his mind. He has done so much for us and the people wants him to continue his good works'”. A chief stated
” Aminu (Amin) is our son and he cannot abandon us. He is our Nkrumah, Kwame Nkrumah of Karaga who never dies “. He added solemnly
He emphasizes their desire for Dr. Anta’s continued, long-term representation and development in the constituency, comparing his effective four-year tenure to others who achieved less over longer periods.
Information available to Tolon Radio reveals that, the chiefs and opinion leaders have started persuading the Karaga MP to rescind his decision through some revered Chiefs, Imams and Opinion leaders in Tamale.
Tolon Radio have gathered that a delegation made up of Chief’s, opinion leaders and some NPP executives from Karaga recently met with the Northern Regional Chief Imam Sheikh Abdul Salam in their pursuance.
Again the constituents โare actively working to convince Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam to reverse his decision to step down.
“We are seeking every opportunity to convince him, we will demonstrate if we have to… We want him to listen to our cries”. Karaga youth, Baba Ibrahim hinted
