Road infrastructure in the Tolon Constituency of the Northern Region has seen significant transformation in recent years. This follows a series of construction and rehabilitation works initiated under the leadership of the Member of Parliament, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, also known as Soyalana.
Until December 2020, most of the roads in Tolon were in deplorable condition. Travel within communities was difficult, with farmers, traders, and students struggling to move freely. But since Hon. Iddrisu assumed office in January 2021, residents say the situation has greatly improved.
Several road projects have been completed, including the Dalinbihi–Naa Kuraa road, Adumbiliyili–Aseiyili, Nyankpala Market–Tingoli–Dasuyili, Tolon Township roads, Katinga Market–Yoggu–Kpalgung–Jagbo, and the Tali–Jagro-yili–Tibogunayili–Nyoblibaligu–Kpendua–Daboya Riverside stretch.
Other projects are ongoing. These include the Changnaayili–Naha–Galinkpegu–Golinga–Datooyili road, the Tolon–Fihini–Kpalgung–Zagua road, and the Gbambaya–Wayamba–Zali–Kasuliyili–Kunguri–Wantugu link. Works are also progressing on roads connecting Nlalayili, Waribogu, Kanshegu, and several other communities.
Community members say the new roads are already making a difference. Farmers can now move their produce to markets with less stress, traders can reach buyers more easily, and students have safer access to schools.
Speaking to journalists, Hon. Habib Iddrisu said his priority has been to open up Tolon through infrastructure that directly improves livelihoods.
“Our people deserve better. By improving the road network, we are making it easier for farmers, traders, and students to move without difficulty. This is development that touches lives,” he stated.
The MP assured residents that more road projects are in the pipeline to further improve connectivity in the constituency.
With the improved road networks, Tolon is expected to experience greater economic activity, easier access to services, and improved living standards for its people.
