Deputy Minority Chief Whip and MP for Tolon, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, has been left heartbroken following the tragic death of his colleague and friend, Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, in Wednesday’s military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
Fighting back tears, Hon. Habib said: “Hmmm… I am beyond shocked and confused.”
The crash, which occurred in the Eastern Region, also claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, a senior national security adviser, the NDC vice-chairman, and the helicopter’s crew.
Hon. Habib, who served alongside Murtala in Parliament and shared close personal ties with him, called the loss “unbearable” and urged the nation to honour the memory of the fallen with unity and prayer.
“This is a wound that will take a long time to heal,” he said quietly.
Ghana remains in mourning, with flags flying at half-mast and funeral arrangements expected in the coming days.
