FirstBank Ghana has opened a new branch in Tamale, with the Managing Director, Victor Yaw Asante, stressing that the bank’s mission goes beyond physical structures.

At the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Asante said, “Banking is not about buildings, it is about people, partnership, and progress.”

He explained that Tamale was chosen because of its strategic role as the commercial hub of Northern Ghana, connecting key agricultural and trade corridors. He added that with banking penetration in the region still below 40 per cent, the growth opportunities are significant.

The new branch, according to FirstBank, will provide tailor-made credit facilities for farmers, MSMEs, and professionals. The bank also promised competitive account services, expanded agent and mobile banking, and financial education programmes to empower residents.

Mr. Asante assured customers that FirstBank is committed to building relationships, supporting schools, partnering with local businesses, and engaging community leaders for shared progress.

“As part of the FirstBank Group, Africa’s oldest financial institution since 1894, we bring a legacy of trust and resilience. Our presence in Tamale continues that tradition,” he said.

The MD expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of Tamale for their warm welcome and pledged that the bank will serve with excellence and integrity.

“When we say You First, we mean it because your needs, your progress, and your trust drive everything we do,” he concluded.

Banking is About People, Not Buildings – FirstBank MD

FirstBank Ghana has commissioned a new branch in Tamale with a strong message that its focus goes beyond physical infrastructure to the people it serves.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana, Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, said the bank’s mission is centred on “people, partnership, and progress.”

“Banking is not about buildings, it is about people,” he emphasised.

Mr. Asante explained that Tamale was chosen because of its strategic position as the commercial heartbeat of Northern Ghana, linking major agricultural and trade corridors. He noted that with banking penetration in the region still below 40 per cent, the opportunities for growth and financial inclusion are significant.

The new branch will provide tailor-made credit facilities for farmers, micro, small and medium enterprises, and professionals. It will also expand agent and mobile banking services and roll out financial education programmes to empower residents.

“As part of the FirstBank Group, Africa’s oldest financial institution since 1894, we bring a legacy of trust and resilience. Our presence in Tamale continues that tradition,” the MD stated.

He assured customers that the bank is committed to supporting schools, partnering with local businesses, and working with community leaders to foster shared progress.

“When we say You First, we mean it. Your needs, your progress, and your trust drive everything we do,” Mr. Asante said.

The Non-Executive Director, Ms. Rosie Ebe-Arthur, added that the new branch represents a bold and lasting commitment by FirstBank Ghana to not only do business but also serve as a long-term development partner in Tamale and beyond.
