The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school candidates.

In a statement, WAEC said the results have been sent to schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education, while candidates may also check theirs online at www.waecgh.org.

A total of 603,328 candidates from 20,395 schools entered the examination, made up of 297,250 males and 306,078 females. This number included 72 visually impaired candidates, 239 with hearing impairment and 161 with other special needs. The exams were conducted in 2,237 centres nationwide, with 2,526 candidates absent.

Following investigations into examination irregularities, WAEC announced the cancellation of subject results for 718 candidates and the entire results for 177 candidates. In addition, the subject results of 1,240 candidates and the entire results of 93 candidates have been withheld pending further investigations.

WAEC also noted that subject results from candidates in 119 schools have been cancelled, while results from 87 schools have been withheld. These may be released or cancelled after ongoing investigations conclude by September 6, 2025.

The Council urged candidates whose results have been cancelled or withheld to check https://irreg.waec.org for updates and next steps.

Meanwhile, WAEC cautioned the public against fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee, stressing that its results remain secure and authentic.

The Council also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, security agencies, supervisors, invigilators, examiners and school authorities for their support in the smooth conduct of this year’s BECE.
