Volta Region deserves more appointments for our hard work – North Dayi MP

The North Dayi Member of Parliament has made a strong case for increased ministerial appointments for MPs from the Volta Region, stating that their hard work and commitment to the party warrant greater representation in government.

Jocelyn Tetteh speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Tuesday, January 21, said, “With the effort we have put in as a region, I think we deserve more than the three appointments we currently have. Every region has performed, but given our efforts, we deserve more.”

She highlighted the region’s political contributions, noting that Volta MPs worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to retain their seats. She pointed out that despite limited resources, they remained steadfast and delivered results for the party.

“We have 18 seats, and we even managed to reclaim the one NPP seat we lost. Out of these, only two women emerged victorious. This should not be overlooked,” she emphasised.

The North Dayi legislator called on President John Mahama to consider the region’s loyalty and commitment when making further appointments.

“We are hopeful that His Excellency will turn his eyes towards the Volta Region, as we are his stronghold and have remained focused. We want to maintain that strong support.”

However, she acknowledged that the final decision rests with the President, stating, “It’s not for us to decide who he appoints or who he doesn’t.

“No, it’s not about forcing him to appoint a certain number of people from the Volta Region. It’s about his discretion and what he deems best.”

Ms Tetteh concluded by reiterating that the region remains optimistic and confident that their efforts will be recognised, adding, “We believe that increasing the figures will not be bad at all.”
