The Vice President of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, visited the Tolon constituency on Thursday, 21st November 2024, as part of his campaign tour in the Northern Region.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Tolon, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his connection to the region, stating that he is a grandson of the Naa Gbewaa clan, a lineage that resonates deeply with the people of the Northern Region. He appealed to the community to support his bid for the presidency, highlighting his heritage as a shared bond with the people.

Dr. Bawumia also urged the electorate to consider the duration of his potential presidency. He noted that he is running against former President John Dramani Mahama, another northerner, but stressed that the former president has already served four years as president, leaving him with only one additional term if re-elected.

“In contrast,” Dr. Bawumia said, “I have the opportunity to serve for two full terms—eight years. Choosing me means choosing eight years of development, as opposed to just four.”

The Vice President encouraged the people of Tolon and the Northern Region as a whole to rally behind him, promising to bring significant progress and transformation to their communities if elected.

The visit drew large crowds as Dr. Bawumia reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians through policies aimed at creating jobs, enhancing infrastructure, and ensuring equitable distribution of resources across the country.

This visit forms part of his broader campaign strategy to secure the support of the Northern Region, which has become a key battleground in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
