The management of Tamale Teaching Hospital has responded to social media allegations of negligence following the recent death of a patient at the facilitys Accident and Emergency Ward.
In an official statement released on sunday, 20 April, TTH expressed condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledged the gravity of the situation .
The statement clarified that the deceased patient was been referred from another medical facility and required a specialized procedure that is not currently available at the hospital
Management further explained that, at the time of the patients arrival, all four Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds which serve the entire Northern Ghana were fully occupied. The report of alleged negligence on the part of the hospital staff and management have generated widespread public concern, with growing calls for demonstration against the handling of patients at hospital by its staff and management.
However, the hospital management urged the public and the media to avoid premature conclusions, noting that an internal investigations is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
“We are committed to full transparency and will communicate the outcome of the investigation once concluded”. the statement said.
Then hospital management reaffirmed their commitment to delivering quality and compassionate healthcare and emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency and critical services.
the statement concluded with a call for calm and cooperation from all stakeholders as investigations continue.
