The National Tripartite Committee, comprising the Government, Employers, and Organised Labour has officially commenced negotiations to determine the 2025 National Minimum Wage. The discussions began on Monday, February 3, 2025.

Following the conclusion of minimum wage negotiations, talks on base pay adjustments for public sector workers will take place.

Negotiations for both the minimum wage and base pay are already behind schedule by the government, as they were initially expected to conclude by April 2024, in line with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act. The Government is urging social partners, Employers and Organised Labour to work collaboratively to fast-track the process. A timely agreement is crucial to informing the 2025 National Budget.

As discussions progress, stakeholders will be watching closely to see how these negotiations shape wages and economic conditions for the coming year.
