In a shocking turn of events, the collation centre at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Electoral Commission was attacked and ransacked earlier today. Eyewitness accounts suggest that over 40 individuals stormed the premises, creating chaos and ordering everyone, including members of the media, to vacate the building. The attackers vandalized several properties, smashing louvre blades, breaking doors, and leaving the collation centre in disarray.
The media, who had gathered to cover the collation process, described the scene as chaotic and tense.
This incident has drawn widespread condemnation from the public, who are calling for accountability and a swift response from law enforcement agencies. As Ghana continues its journey as a beacon of democracy in Africa, incidents like this serve as a stark reminder of the challenges that still need to be addressed.
