In a grand ceremony held at the Choggu Chief’s Palace Compound on Thursday, November 28, 2024, Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini, Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency, donated a substantial quantity of educational and health materials to benefit schools and students in the area.

The event, organized in partnership with Qatar Charity and Books for Africa, a U.S.-based organization, brought together stakeholders in education and health.

The Chief of Choggu, Nyab Choggu-Naa, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, alongside community leaders, school authorities, students, and residents.

Hon. Suhuyini’s donation includes, 53,000 medical textbooks and BP apparatus for the Community Health Nurses Training School, Tamale, and the Nurses and Midwifery Training College, Tamale.

He also presented novels, 600 solar lamps, 200 desk and 7 computers to some selected Senior High Schools (SHS) and Basic Schools in the constituency.

The beneficiary Senior High schools include Kalpohin SHS, Islamic Science SHS and Northern School of Business SHS.

Hon. Suhuyini expressed his commitment to enhance education and healthcare in the constituency.

The Tamale North MP thanked his partners for their unwavering support, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in driving development.

“This initiative is part of our vision to ensure that every child in Tamale North has access to quality education and learning resources. The solar lamps, in particular, will help students in areas without reliable electricity to study at night,” Hon. Suhuyini remarked.

The Choggu-Naa lauded the MP for his dedication to the welfare of his constituents and urged students to make good use of the resources. He highlighted the importance of education as a tool for societal transformation and called on other leaders to emulate Hon. Suhuyini’s efforts.

Residents and beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the donation would significantly improve teaching, learning, and health education in the constituency.

The event concluded with a symbolic presentation of the items to representatives of the beneficiary institutions and a tour of the donated materials.
