The Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Adam Abubakari Takoro, has presented 200 metallic dual desks to selected schools within the Tamale Metropolis. The initiative forms part of the Fit Facilities for Basic School Project aimed at addressing the growing furniture deficit in schools.
The desks were procured through a partnership between the Net Organisation for Youth Empowerment and Development, NOYED-Ghana, and Woods PLC, a long-standing development partner.
At a brief handing-over ceremony in Tamale, Hon. Takoro commended the two organisations for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention in support of quality education. He said the Assembly remains committed to collaborating with stakeholders to improve educational infrastructure, enhance teaching and learning, and ensure that no child is left behind.
The Mayor explained that the lack of furniture has been one of the key challenges facing schools in the metropolis, forcing some pupils to sit on the floor during lessons. He expressed optimism that the desks will significantly improve classroom conditions and promote effective learning.
