TaMA faults Urban Roads on faulty traffic lights in the metroplis

Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) has charge the Department of Urban Roads to as matter urgency fix the malfunctioning traffic signals within the metropolis.

According to the TaMA, there are growing concerns from the public over the intermittent malfunctioning traffic signals at key intersections along the principle streets including the ones in front of Fosmuel Shopping Centre, and the ones around the Gulpke Naa’s palace as well as the Agric. Traffic light.

In a press release signed by the Public Relation Officer of the Assembly, Amadu Mustapha stated that, the Assembly shares the frustration of the public and concerns raised in relation to the malfunction traffic lights within the metropolis.

“By this press release, Assembly acknowledges and shares the frustration of residents and motorists who are facing challenges relating to traffic flow and safety due to the recurring problem”. The release said

The Tamale Metro Assembly revealed that, the Urban Roads Department is solely responsible for the maintenance and repair of urban roads infrastructure including traffic signal.

“Therefore, the Assembly has, through official correspondence and direct engagements, consistently put pressure on the Department of Urban Roads to expedite the repair of the faulty traffic signals. We have highlighted the critical nature of this issue, emphasizing the potential for accidents and the significant disruption to daily life and economic activities in the metropolis”. The release said

“While as an Assembly, we appreciate the efforts that have been made to address some of the issues, the problem persists, and we believe a more urgent and comprehensive approach is required”. The release added
