The Sudanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Gariballa Khidir Ali, has reached out to Ghana’s government and people for support in finding a lasting solution to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The Ambassador made this appeal during a courtesy call on Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and later at a press conference in Accra.
The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has displaced and claimed many lives, with thousands of civilians affected.
Ambassador Ali expressed optimism that Ghana, known for its democratic stability and peace, could play a pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in Sudan through dialogue and negotiations.
The Ambassador thanked international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), World Food Programme (WFP), and International Organization for Migration (IOM), for their humanitarian aid to Sudan.
Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to African-led solutions to African problems, stressing the need for unity, self-reliance, and peace across the continent.
The Ambassador’s appeal highlights the need for collective action to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and promote peace and stability in the region.
