A Former Director of Ghana Law School, Dr. Kweku Ansa-Asare has chastised the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng following his decision to declared Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta wanted.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) Wednesday 12, 2025 at a press conference declared the former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted over allegations of corruption.

But Mr. Ansa-Asare described the Special Prosecutor’s actions as hasty and disgraceful, arguing that there were more appropriate and civilized ways to handle such matters.

The renowned law lecturer speaking on TV3 noted that, the actions of the Special Prosecutor (SP) will dent Ghana’s image.

“If I had my way, the Special Prosecutor should be arrested; we have to be fair to our consciences. If the Special Prosecutor has any conscience, he must be the first to leave office. He should resign and let a more competent person do the job.” He fumes

He further criticized the Special Prosecutor’s perceived inaction on previous corruption allegations, questioning why similar steps were not taken in past high-profile cases.

“The Special Prosecutor has been in this country while corruption allegations have persisted. How many times have Ghanaians spoken about the National Cathedral and financial losses? Where was the Special Prosecutor when people were demanding accountability?”

When asked who was influencing the Special Prosecutor, he responded “Somebody is using him. We should stop this kind of politics. Who influences people in this country? Is it not those at the helm of affairs?”

While Dr. Ansa-Asare acknowledged that there are established procedures for the removal of the Special Prosecutor, however  he insisted that the current occupant of the office has not lived up to expectations.
