The Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has extended her support to 80 brilliant but needy students in the constituency through the second phase of her Savelugu Educational Support Initiative, disbursing a total of GHC129,000 to aid their academic pursuits.
The latest intervention brings the total number of beneficiaries to 130 students since she assumed office as a first-time MP. Phase I of the initiative supported 50 students.
Speaking during the presentation, Hajia Fatahiya who also serves as the Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Gender Committee emphasized that the initiative is non-partisan and open to all deserving students in the constituency.
“I’m motivated by the support I got from people who believed in me growing up, and I’m reciprocating the same to brilliant but needy students in my constituency,” she said
She encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously so they can, in the future, uplift others just as they have been supported.
Beyond education, the MP continues to champion women’s health in the constituency.
In collaboration with the Savelugu Health Directorate, she mobilized women across the area for breast cancer awareness and screening exercise.
The initiative aimed at early detection and improving the overall wellbeing of women, enabling them to carry out their economic activities efficiently.
Hajia Fatahiya reaffirmed her commitment to advancing both education and health outcomes in Savelugu, stressing that empowering young people and safeguarding women’s health remain central to her development agenda.
