The Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hon. Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, engaged with students and staff of Pong-Tamale Senior High School as part of the ongoing Parliament in Focus educational programme.

Held within the premises of Parliament, the session provided an opportunity for the students drawn from the Savelugu Constituency to interact directly with lawmakers and deepen their understanding of parliamentary democracy.

Hon. Fatahiya described the encounter as an enriching experience, saying the discussions centred on the mandate of Parliament and the responsibilities of Members of Parliament. “It is important that young people understand how Parliament works, because you are the future leaders,” she said.

She further noted that “this interactive session empowered these students to take an active role in shaping the future.”

The MP expressed appreciation to the Department of Public Engagement for the smooth coordination of the programme, as well as the resource persons and fellow MPs who contributed to the learning experience.

The Parliament in Focus initiative forms part of Parliament’s broader efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and civic education among Ghanaian youth. Hon. Fatahiya Abdul Aziz emphasised the need to continue investing in educational outreach. “May we continue to value education and the opportunity it brings in shaping a generation that values democracy and service,” she added.

The students left Parliament inspired, with many calling the experience eye-opening and a motivation to get involved in national development.
