The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Hon. Professor Alidu Mahama Seidu, has joined the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Abu Takoro to cut sod for the construction of a six-unit classroom block and a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound for residents of Gumbihini, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis.
The 6-umit classroom blocks includes fully furnished stores, office and furniture whiles the CHPS compound comes with a decent accommodation for health workers.
The project, which is being funded through the Assembly’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund, forms part of efforts by the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to expand access to quality education and healthcare delivery in the area.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Alidu Mahama Seidu noted that investing in social infrastructure remains key to improving the well-being of the people.
He expressed optimism that the project, when completed, will bring lasting benefits to children and families within the Gumbihini community.
For his part, the Tamale Mayor, Hon. Abu Takoro, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring equitable development across all communities in the metropolis. He called on residents to collaborate with the contractors and safeguard the project to ensure its successful completion.
Residents of Gumbihini welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and a clear demonstration of responsive leadership.
