President Mahama got all facts wrong on Ofankor-Nsawam road project – Asenso-Boakye

Former Roads and Highways Minister, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has responded to comments by President John Mahama on the Ofankor–Nsawam road project.

The President, during a visit to the project site, questioned why funds secured for the 33-kilometre dual carriageway appear to have been used up while the road remains unfinished.

In a Facebook post, however, Hon. Asenso-Boakye said the President’s remarks do not reflect the true financing arrangement. He explained that the project is valued at 346 million dollars, with 200 million secured from Afreximbank as partial support. The remaining amount, he noted, was to come from the government’s own budget.

The former minister added that these details were captured in official records and urged the public to focus on facts rather than what he described as “political distortions.”

The Ofankor–Nsawam dual carriageway is one of the government’s key road projects and is expected to ease traffic congestion when completed.
