The president of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama, has appointed Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana. The appointment, made by Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended, was announced by the President’s spokesperson, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Minister for Government Communications.
Mrs Asante-Asiedu is a seasoned corporate leader and Chartered Banker who previously served as Group Head of retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC. She brings extensive experience in banking, leadership, and public affairs to her new role.
Academically, She holds an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School (2021) and an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University (2005). Her academic achievements also include diplomas in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (1997) and Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism, Berlin (2000). In 2024, she was certified as a Chartered Executive Banker by the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu has further honed her expertise through executive education programmes at prestigious institutions including Saïd Business School at Oxford University (2023), the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (2015), and Marquette University’s Les Aspin Centre for Government (2003).
