Over a thousand bags of onions have gone rotten at the Adjen Kotoku market in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, leaving traders counting huge losses. The onions, which were expected to meet the demands of the market, have been plagued by poor storage conditions, low patronage, and bad roads leading to the market.
Traders have expressed their frustration, stating that the situation is the worst they have experienced. They are appealing to the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant authorities to intervene and find lasting solutions to the crisis.

The poor road network has been identified as a major contributor to the problem, with traders citing difficulties in transporting their goods to the market. The situation has been exacerbated by the depreciation of the cedi, making it challenging for traders to import onions from neighboring countries.

The traders are calling on the government to fix the road leading to the market and provide better infrastructure to support their businesses.
The situation remains dire, with traders facing significant financial losses and struggling to make ends meet.
