OMCs warn of looming fuel shortages

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) has alerted the nation to an impending fuel shortage, citing the suspension of the gold-for-oil programme and the halt in operations at Sentuo Oil’s refinery as key causes.

Dr. Riverson Oppong, CEO of the Chamber, warned that these challenges were anticipated when supply from the gold-for-oil initiative peaked and later declined. Additionally, Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) have scaled back imports of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), further straining supply.

The Chamber is urging swift government action to address the crisis and avert disruptions to the energy sector.
