The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to embark on a demonstration against what it describes as state-sponsored police harassment.
The protest, scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, is expected to begin at 6:00 a.m. from the Obra Spot in Accra and proceed to the Police Headquarters.
The National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Salam Mustapha, who made the announcement on his official social media page, said the demonstration seeks to draw attention to what he called the rising intimidation of young people by security agencies.
“The National Youth Wing will not sit aloof while the youth are harassed and silenced. This march is to send a strong signal that enough is enough,” Mr. Mustapha stated.
He further indicated that the demonstration will be peaceful, urging party supporters and the general public to join in large numbers.
The announcement comes on the back of growing concerns within some political circles about alleged heavy-handedness by state security in dealing with dissent, particularly involving young activists.
