NPP suspends 184 executives in Yendi Constituency

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yendi Constituency has suspended 184 executives of the party for gross misconduct and breaching the party’s constitution.

The suspension was in accordance with Article 3 c)Clause (9) (1), Clause (7)(1) and Clause (8)(1) of the party’s constitution (2017).

The suspended members holding various positions in the party were accused of defying the party’s rules by declaring their support and campaigning for an independent candidate in the just ended 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary election.

Others were also suspended for not campaigning for the party in the 2024 elections.

The suspension takes effect 26th December 2024.

In a press release signed by the Yendi Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Baba Gazali said, “these decisions were made unanimously at an expanded Constituency Committee meeting held on 23rd December 2024”.

According to the release, the leadership of the party received several complains from other party members against the said persons in a form of petitions for breach of the party’s Constitution.

“These petitions from the individuals were thoroughly deliberated and resolution adopted at the end of the meeting in which adverse findings were established against certain individuals in the just ended presidential and parliamentary elections”.

The NPP said, after the findings the leadership invoke the relevant provisions of the party’s constitution which was breached by the said individuals.

Notably, the list of suspended members includes high-ranking officials like the first vice-chairman, Baba Gambari, and the constituency organiser, Adam B. Fuseini. The suspensions were approved by the party’s constituency executive committee and council of elders.
