The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has established a joint committee to examine the final report of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC), submitted to President John Dramani Mahama on December 22, 2025. The committee, led by Anyimadu and Frank Davies Esq., will advise the party’s National Council on its official stance regarding the CRC’s proposals.
The CRC report recommends extending the presidential term to five years, separating the Executive from Parliament, and creating an independent Anti-Corruption and Ethics Commission. Other proposals include electing local government leaders directly, empowering citizens to initiate constitutional amendments, and abolishing the death penalty.
The NPP’s move aims to ensure a structured and consultative approach to constitutional reform. The party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, urged members to exercise caution in their public commentary on the CRC’s proposals as the internal review process continues.
