Newspapers vendor cries over low patronage in Tamale

A newspapers vendor in the Tamale metropolis, Madam Bawa Naomi bemoans the low patronage on newspapers and magazines in the Northern Region, reiterating that, news digital platforms have taken over the source of information.

According to her, nowadays people are not more interested in newspapers due to social media.

“Our news stands is not busy any more, these days people relied so much on social media especially Facebook for information and news’. She said

Speaking with Journalism Clinic students at her base in Tamale, Madam Naomi insisted that, despite the emergence of digital news platforms, the newspapers are still very relevant for both public records and news worthy.

Madam Bawa Naomi said, a lot of people especially the Gen Zs prefer the social media for information rather the traditional meantream media, and highlighted the importance of making the news stands the number one sources of information or news stories.
According to her, there are a lot of information on newspapers that are not on Facebook and some of the informations online are only updates, “you won’t see all the details there”. She emphasized
The vendor finally urged Ghanaians to start patronizing more newspapers to get full news stories and uplift the business.

The newspapers ventor hinted that, her news stands is one of the olders newspapers stands

“Selling news papers is initiated by my father over 50years back. It moves from my father to our elder sister and now handed over to me, so its my father’s business I can’t do away with it “. She stated.
