The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced a 30 per cent reduction in the cost of passport applications, effective Thursday, November 13, 2025.
According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the new fee of GHS350 applies to standard passport applications.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the Minister explained that the decision forms part of efforts by the government to make passport acquisition more affordable and accessible to Ghanaians both at home and abroad.
He noted that the reduction follows a comprehensive review of operational costs and stakeholder consultations aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery at passport offices nationwide.
The announcement has been met with widespread praise from citizens who say the move will ease the financial burden on applicants, particularly students and first-time travellers.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has assured the public that despite the reduction, the quality and security features of Ghanaian passports will remain world-class and meet international standards.
