NDC Joana Gyan Cudjoe Disqualified from 2024 Elections Amid Court Drama

In a dramatic turn of events, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the much-publicized National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Amenfi Central has been disqualified from contesting in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The bombshell news was delivered in a letter from the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, following a court injunction that has sent ripples across the political landscape.

The disqualification stems from a High Court ruling in Sekondi, which placed an Interlocutory Injunction on Mrs. Cudjoe’s candidacy due to an ongoing legal battle. Filed by opposing parties against her, the NDC, and the EC, the lawsuit effectively blocks her from presenting herself as the duly elected NDC parliamentary candidate.

Despite efforts from her supporters, the court’s order remains in place and has not been overturned.

This move has left the NDC scrambling, as the court also restricted party officials from allowing Cudjoe to continue holding herself out as the legitimate candidate. The EC, bound by the court’s decision, wasted no time in officially informing her of the disqualification.

The controversial disqualification has sparked fierce debate in political circles, with some accusing the ruling party of foul play, while others question the NDC’s internal processes. With elections just around the corner, the fate of the Amenfi Central seat hangs in the balance, and the NDC must now urgently rethink its strategy.

Stay tuned as this political saga unfolds, potentially reshaping the race in one of the key constituencies in the Western Region.
