Former Tamale Mayor and NPP stalwart, Musah Superior, has emphasized the need for bold, sincere, and independent leadership as the party strategizes for the 2028 general elections. In a recent statement, he underscored the importance of integrity and decisiveness in steering the party toward electoral success.
“We don’t only need strong, brave, and firm leadership to lead, manage, and oversee the affairs of the NPP from now till December 2028,” he stated. “We also need assertive, sincere, truthful, and trustworthy persons who will not be held by personal feelings or opinions, yield to ‘God-fathers’ or influence peddlers, or be manipulated by backstage ‘power brokers.'”
His remarks come in the wake of the NPP’s performance in recent elections, with party members and supporters calling for reforms to strengthen internal unity and broaden voter appeal. Mr Superior highlighted that for the party to regain its footing, the focus should first be on engaging and revitalizing the grassroots before expanding efforts to the wider electorate.
“As we rebuild and re-energize our ‘fallen’ party to make it electable in 2028, we must solemnly declare our unflinching determination to make our party attractive again, first to our grassroots and then to the larger voting population,” he added.
His statement resonates with ongoing discussions within the party about the direction of leadership and the need for reforms. With the 2028 elections still years away, party loyalists and political analysts will be watching closely to see how the NPP navigates its internal restructuring and prepares for the future.
