Accra, Ghana – In the wake of a devastating tragedy that resulted in the loss of six lives, the Minority caucus in parliament has issued a statement demanding accountability and swift action from relevant authorities.

The statement emphasized the need for caution among young Ghanaians aspiring to serve their country, urging them to adhere strictly to official instructions and attend only when invited. He highlighted that while safety is a shared responsibility, the primary duty to ensure safe conditions lies with organizing authorities.

The Minority has put forth several expectations in light of the tragedy:

– A detailed public report on the investigation’s findings is expected within two weeks.

– A clear timeline for implementing corrective measures must be provided.

– Compensation and support should be given to the families of the deceased and those injured.

– The Ghana Armed Forces and relevant government agencies must commit to preventing such a tragedy from recurring.

“We expect and demand” these actions, release stated, underscoring the gravity of the situation where “Six lives have been lost. Six families are mourning. Six futures have been extinguished.”

The Minority caucus concluded with a message of condolence: “May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.”

The statement comes amid calls for accountability following the national tragedy.
