While responding to questions on the Beigu Naayo program, a morning flagship show on Tolon Radio hosted by Mohammed Suhuyini Shaharan, he was asked to clarify comments he had made earlier on a sister station regarding the leading contenders in the Tamale Central NDC primaries. In his response, he stated that he had read most of the comments and criticisms surrounding the race, and noted that the majority of the attacks originated from the camp of his nephew, Dr. Seidu Fiter, who is one of the aspirants in the constituency contest.

He went on to explain his familial relationship with Dr. Fiter and emphasized that his analysis was purely political. Based on the dynamics he had observed, he concluded that the real contest was between Hon. Gundadoo and Prof. Alidu Seidu.
