A National Women’s Organizer hopeful of the NPP, Hajia Safia Mohammed has shown solidarity with traders of the Katanmanto market in Accra.
Fire gutted the Kantamanto market on Thursday, January 2.
The blaze, which started at dawn on claimed one life, left 14 seriously injured, destroyed 7,000 shop and affected over 30,000 traders.
Hajia Safia in the company of the NPP National Chairman Mr Stephen Ntim, General Secretary Lawyer Justin Koduah Frimpong and some party officials, said, she was devastated by the level of damage caused by the fire, adding that, ” I was saddened and heartbroken by this inferno. This tragedy has affected a lot of traders causing significant hardship for those who rely on the market for their livelihoods”.
“Personally I was deeply moved by the strength and determination of these individuals, who are already beginning to rebuild all over again”. She told journalists after the visit
Madam Safia said, the New Patriotic Party stands in solidarity with the Kantamanto community during these challenging times.
According to the NPP General Secretary the visit was aimed at expressing solidarity with the affected individuals and providing reassurance of the party’s commitment to supporting them during this difficult time.
The leadership of the NPP assessed the extent of the damage, interacted with affected traders, and pledged to work closely with stakeholders to ensure relief and recovery efforts are expedited.

The party remains committed to advocating for the necessary interventions to prevent such occurrences in the future and to safeguard the livelihoods of our hardworking citizens”.
