The Chief of Gukpegu, Alhassan Abdulai, has presented two bags of rice and a bull to the IGP’s Special Operations Team in recognition of their gallant fight against illicit drug trade, Armed Robbery among other crimes and offences in the Northern Region.
The gesture by the Palace also aims to boost the morale of the Special Operations Team members as part of the new year festivities.
On behalf of the Chief, the Elders of the Gukpe Naa Palace, presented the food stuff and a Bull to the leader of the IGP’s Special Operations Team, DSP Alhaj Jalil Bawah in appreciation of his leadership role in guiding the team against the fight of the prevailing social vices bedeviled the Northern society.
The donation took place at the Gukpe Naa Palace today, on Wednesday, 31st December, 2025 in the presence of the elders, Faako Taskforce, and other subsidiary taskforce missions from various communities within the greater Tamale area.
Addressing the audience including the elders of the Palace, the leader of the Police Special Operations Team, DSP Alhaj Jalil Bawah thanked the palace profusely for the gesture, acknowledging the support and collaborations they enjoy from the traditional Authorities and the Faako Taskforce.
Furthering in speech, Alhaj Jalil Bawah singled out Tamale Faako Taskforce for praise in their role against the fight of the illicit drugs and other hard substances, underscoring the relevance of their existence, insisting that as taskforce they have the right for arrest during operations under the law with a duty of handing the drug peddlers over to police.
The the Faako Taskforce seized the opportunity to inform DSP Jalil Bawah about some of the Items confiscated during their operations. Alhaj Jalil inspected those items which included motor bikes, deep freezers, among others.
