The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ghana) has denied reports claiming it approved the extension of Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) services to Ghanaian missions abroad for the registration and renewal of drivers’ licenses in countries including the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Germany.
In a press release issued in Accra on February 26, 2026, the Ministry stated categorically that it has neither issued directives to its diplomatic missions nor granted approval to any entity for such an arrangement, adding that it is unaware of any new government policy supporting the purported initiative and has no record of formal engagement or financial commitment related to it, while assuring the public of its commitment to transparency and financial prudence in public service delivery.
