The Commander of the IGP Special Operations Team, DSP Alhaji Bawah Abdul Jalil, has forcefully pushed back against what he describes as a long running smear campaign aimed at destroying his reputation within the Ghana Police Service.
In a strongly worded statement, the senior officer recounted a 19 year ordeal that began early in his career when he was allegedly framed with robbery related accusations.
According to him, the case was tried before the Accra Regional Tribunal, where he was ultimately discharged after the court found no basis for the allegations. He insists that the matter was conclusively settled years ago, yet detractors continue to resurrect what he calls “blatant lies.”
DSP Bawah maintains that the allegations including claims of stealing an AK-47 rifle, involvement in armed robbery, and assaulting ASP (Rtd) Nanka Bruce were politically motivated attempts to derail his career.
He categorically denies all wrongdoing, stressing that no conviction or credible institutional record exists against him. He further revealed that he endured a five year legal battle to clear his name, describing the period as one marked by prayer, perseverance, and personal sacrifice.
Today, he says, he leads 111 officers under the IGP Special Operations Team with discipline and integrity, earning commendations despite ongoing public criticism.
Beyond defending his record, DSP Bawah directly accused media personality Kelvin Taylor of peddling falsehoods and fueling division, particularly within Dagbon.
He cautioned against internal rivalries, political manipulation, and the tendency to undermine one’s own, urging unity in the kingdom.
Emphasizing that court documents confirming his discharge are publicly available, the embattled commander declared that he remains “fearless and incorruptible,” committed to serving Ghana and Dagbon with unwavering resolve.

STANDING TALL AGAINST FALSEHOODS – THE TRUTH OF DSP ALHAJI BAWAH ABDUL JALIL
1. THE BEGINNING
For nearly two decades, my journey in the Ghana Police Service has been marked by trials, perseverance, and triumph. I share this account not to dwell on the past, but to set the record straight against malicious falsehoods being circulated about me and for the sake of posterity.
2. THE EARLY STRUGGLES
Nineteen years ago, as a young police constable, I faced frustration, victimisation, and hostility simply because I stood for truth and integrity. Within my first year of service, I was framed by certain officers—politically influenced actors who sought to silence my resistance against corruption. Strangely, these guys are still around in the and cannot stand against the successes and impact I am making in the Ghana Police Service. So they are doing everything possible to resurrect their blatant lies that fell flat in the court of competent jurisdiction several years ago. They falsely branded me with robbery allegations, attempting to destroy my career before it began. But they were disgraced in court.
2. MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND THE ORDEAL
My colleagues, friends, and family witnessed this ordeal. Yet, with faith, determination, and perseverance, I embarked on a five-year legal battle against the Ghana Police Service and the Republic of Ghana. Through nights of prayer, tears, and reflection, I endured. Ultimately, the courts vindicated me. I was discharged of all charges, my innocence affirmed, and my destiny restored.
3. MY CALL TO DAGBANG
As a proud son of Dagbang, I must speak to the divisions that weaken our kingdom. Political rivalries, religious sectarianism, and the lingering Abudu-Andani conflict have eroded unity. Too often, we celebrate strangers while undermining our own. Suspicion has replaced trust, and envy has eaten away at solidarity.
Dagbang is too great to be reduced to this. Our history is rich, our people capable, and our Overlord, Ndan Yaa Naa, powerful. But greatness is not inherited—it is sustained. We must learn to celebrate and protect one another, for no society thrives when divided against itself.
5. LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE
Today, I serve as the Commander of the IGP Special Operations Team, leading 111 men with discipline, focus, and integrity. Operations are never without hazards, and as Commander, I bear ultimate responsibility. Yet, instead of recognising competence, some reduce my work to political interpretations.
6. I HAVE ALWAYS FOCUSED ON INTEGRITY
Integrity, commitment, and hard work should matter. Sadly, partisan lenses distort reality, branding me as unworthy simply because of perceived political affiliations. Despite this, my team’s dedication and results have earned special commendations and promotions. Excesses in operations are reviewed and corrected, but our resolve remains firm: to maintain law and order for a safer society.
7. REFUTING FALSE ALLEGATIONS
The persistent falsehoods circulated against me—particularly by Kelvin Taylor—must be addressed with facts:
A. Alleged theft of an AK-47 rifle: This claim is entirely false. I was formally charged and tried before the Accra Regional Tribunal. After rigorous examination of evidence, the court discharged me, affirming my innocence.
B. Alleged involvement in armed robbery: This narrative was fabricated to discredit me. No conviction, no credible evidence, and no institutional record support such an accusation.
C. Alleged assault on ASP (Rtd) Nanka Bruce: This is misleading. Mr Nanka Bruce is alive, and I maintain a cordial relationship with him.
These allegations form a clear pattern: a politically motivated campaign to malign my character. They are not rooted in accountability or journalism, but in deliberate attempts to defame and undermine me.
8. THE UNSHAKABLE TRUTH
I was lawfully cleared of all accusations by a competent court. The facts are documented, verifiable, and undeniable. My record of service stands on integrity, competence, and dedication.
For every success I have achieved, I swam against the current. For every battle I won, I fought tides of victimisation and vindictiveness. Yet, I remain fearless, incorruptible, and steadfast in my duty to the people of Ghana and to Dagbang.
Allah has never forsaken me, and I will continue to serve my nation with strength, courage, hope, and unwavering commitment.
