Former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Hon. Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has taken to his official Facebook page to react to President John Dramani Mahama’s address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
While acknowledging the President’s eloquence and insights on global issues such as immigration, climate change, financing for development, and the Middle East conflict, Dr Amin Adam questioned the impact of such speeches on Ghana’s domestic challenges.
In his post, he stated that “the reset economy is not resetting, galamsey is out of control, and free speech is being murdered.”
The comments have since generated public debate, with supporters of the former Finance Minister backing his call for accountability. In contrast, others accuse him of undermining Ghana’s image on the international stage.
Hon Dr Amin Adam maintained that until strong measures are taken to address the country’s economic and social issues, international recognition will remain meaningless to ordinary Ghanaians.
