The Member of Parliament for Karaga and former Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, popularly known as Dr. Anta, is quietly transforming lives across the Karaga constituency—not through lofty promises, but through concrete action.
Since he became a member of parliament in 2020, Dr. Anta has been instrumental in facilitating employment for nearly 500 residents of Karaga. His efforts span government placements, personal financing of local jobs, and skills development initiatives, directly impacting livelihoods across the district.
Among his notable interventions is the regularisation of over 40 casual workers at the Karaga District Health Directorate. These workers, many of whom had served the health sector for years without formal recognition or job security, have now been added to the government payroll through Dr. Anta’s advocacy with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.
His influence has extended across various sectors. More than 55 graduates from Karaga have secured teaching roles under the Ghana Education Service (GES), while over 200 young people from the constituency have been recruited into the nation’s security services, including the Police Service, Armed Forces, Fire Service, and Immigration.
Beyond public sector roles, Dr. Anta has personally funded the salaries of over 200 cleaners and security personnel across Karaga. This rare and selfless gesture, financed from his own income, has earned him widespread respect among constituents.
His commitment to education and skills training is equally remarkable. Through the “Dr. Anta Educational Fund,” over 1,000 students have received sponsorship to pursue senior high and tertiary education. In addition, the “Anta Tuma Kavi” initiative has equipped 500 young women with vocational skills in areas such as dressmaking, catering, and hairdressing empowering them to build sustainable livelihoods.
Between 2024 and 2025 alone, these interventions have generated 495 new jobs an achievement that reflects a sustained and deliberate commitment to youth development and community empowerment.
“He doesn’t just talk. He delivers, he is redefining the role of an MP” said one resident, echoing a sentiment shared by many in the constituency.
To his constituents, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam is more than a Member of Parliament. He is a symbol of leadership that prioritises action over applause, a man using public office not for personal gain, but to uplift others.
