The President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has appointed Dr Abubakari Bawa Abdulai as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) following the dismissal of Dr Adam Atiku.
The decision comes in response to growing public concern over alleged negligence and underperformance at the facility. The situation prompted an urgent visit from the Minister of Health to the hospital on Tuesday, after which Dr. Atiku’s removal was confirmed.
Dr. Abubakari Bawa Abdulai is a distinguished Ghanaian physician, academic, and public health researcher, currently serving as the Director of the University Health Services Directorate at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, Ghana.
He previously served as the Director of Health Services at the University. He is also a former parliamentary candidate aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Karaga constituency.
The appointment is seen as a move to restore confidence and improve healthcare delivery at one of the Northern Region’s most critical medical institutions.
