Dagbon Traditional Council sets dates for late Bamvim Lana Mahama Abdulal’s funeral

The Dagbon Traditional Council has announced the scheduled dates for the final funeral rites of the late Bawvim Lana Mahama Abdulal in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Northern Region Security Council, Tamale. The Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II, informed the family of the deceased on November 10, 2025, that the funeral ceremonies will be performed at the Bawvim Lana’s palace.

The confirmed funeral dates are; 9th January 2026: Zugu pinbu, 15th January 2026: buni wuhibu, 16th January 2026: Sara taribu.

The council has requested adequate security to maintain law and order during the funerals and reminded authorities of the ban on sophisticated weapons at the events. All customary rites and information outside these dates should be disregarded.
