Amin Anta Zogbeli Educational Fund supports 120 needy students with cash

One hundred and twenty (120) brilliant but needy students in Zogbeli, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis have received financial support from the Zogbeli Educational Fund.

Each beneficiary received a cheque of one thousand cedis (1000.00) from the fund.

The initiative, established by the Member of Parliament for Karaga and former Finance Minister, Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta, disbursed a total of one hundred and twenty thousand cedis (GH¢120,000) to the beneficiaries, Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Speaking to Tolon Radio’s Head of News, Hamza Lansah Lolly, the Vice Chairman of the Fund, Alhaji Sulemana Tanko, explained that the support targets continuing students, since the government has already absorbed the fees of first-year students under the “No Stress Fee” policy.

He added that all beneficiaries went through strict documentation and institutional verification before receiving the funds.

Alhaji Tanko revealed that, the Zogbeli Educational Fund was  launched last year with a seed capital of Five hundred thousand cedis (GH¢500,000) provided by Dr. Adam Amin Anta, ”So last year we disbursed an amount of GH 350.000 to 210 brilliant but needy students and today we are supporting 120 students”.  He added

The Zogbeli Educational Fund Vice Chairman Vice reiterated that, the Fund is nonpolitical, nonreligious and nontribal, “The Zogbeli Educational Fund doesn’t discriminate, so far as you are in Zogbeli and qualify, you will be assisted. There are instances where we even considered other needy students outside Zogbeli”.

He said, the management of the Fund is overseen by a 12-member management committee responsible for steering its affairs and ensuring its operations are aligned with its objectives. “This committee, composed of individuals with diverse skills, holds responsibilities such as ensuring the Fund’s financial and investment standards are maintained, defining management procedures for accountability, and protecting the interests of beneficiaries”. He added

Alhaji Tanko affirmed that, the initiative play a key role in promoting education and reducing financial barriers for young people in Zogbeli.

One of the Fund Team members and former Assemblyman of the area, Hon Polo advised the beneficiaries to avoid bad friends’ and stay away from illicit drugs.

He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies serious and emulate the examples of the former Finance Minister, Dr. Adam Amin Anta, through the benevolence of whom are they assisted.

Another Fund member, Alhaji Alhassan Yunus noted that, the fund will continue to support needy students in the area.

According to him, the initiative seeks to provide financial and other forms of assistance to brilliant but needy students and urged that tertiary students in the area take advantage of the fund.

The beneficiaries of the fund expressed their profound gratitude to the management of the Fund and the Karaga MP, Dr. Mohammed Adam Amin Anta.
