Open Letter :

His Royal Majesty, The King of Dagbon (Ndan Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II)

The Northern Regional Minister and Chairman, Regional Security Council (RESEC)

A Passionate Appeal for Immediate Attention to Brewing Tensions in Dagbon

Your Royal Majesty, Hon. Regional Minister, and Esteemed Chairman of RESEC,

With deep humility and reverence, I write this letter with a heavy heart—driven by nothing but love for Dagbon, and a deep concern for the peace and dignity of our cherished Kingdom.

There is a growing unease among the people. A tension that is quietly but rapidly building in some corners of our land. The silence may deceive many, but those who listen to the pulse of the streets know that something is brewing—something that, if left unchecked, may escalate into a situation too tragic to bear.

Your Royal Majesty, Hon. Minister, this is a heartfelt plea: please put your ears to the ground. Listen to the quiet whispers, the restless concerns, and the anxious voices of the ordinary people. We are at a crossroads, and only proactive, tactical, and intelligent intervention can disarm this ticking tension.

History has taught us hard lessons. We must not allow ourselves to return to the painful past. This time, we must rise with foresight and wisdom to protect the peace we have all worked so hard to rebuild.

Let the politicians and so-called “chieftaincy entrepreneurs” be warned: Dagbon is not a playground for personal ambition and manipulation. Their interference must stop. If they truly care for Dagbon, let them take their hands off its sacred affairs. Let the chieftaincy institution remain sacred and dignified, free from political pollution and selfish agendas.

Enough is enough. The people are tired. Tired of cycles of conflict. Tired of outsiders stoking fires that only burn the souls of Dagbon’s sons and daughters. Tired of smiling in the day and worrying through the night.

All we ask is peace—lasting, dignified, genuine peace. Peace that allows our children to dream freely. Peace that upholds the crown of Ndan Yaa Naa in honour. Peace that lets Dagbon flourish, not just survive.

I beg, I plead, I appeal—take swift and wise steps now. The moment to act is now.

May Allah continue to bless His Royal Majesty, guide the Regional Minister, and strengthen the efforts of RESEC.

Dagbon deserves peace. Dagbon deserves dignity.
And the time to secure both… is now.

Respectfully yours,
Concerned Son of Dagbon

Violent confrontation as Minority and Majority MPs clash over vetting of Ablakwa, Akandoh Juliana Odame AsarebyJuliana Odame Asare January 30, 2025 Reading Time: 1 min read Tensions flared during a session of the Appointments Committee as members of the Minority and Majority Caucuses clashed over the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. The disagreement erupted when the Minority proposed rescheduling the vetting to Friday, citing concerns over the day’s proceedings. However, Majority members rejected this suggestion, insisting that the vetting should continue as scheduled. The disagreement escalated into chaos, with Minority members disrupting the session by breaking tables and microphones in an effort to prevent any delay. Despite this, the Majority stood firm, arguing that the committee was following its established schedule and that the vetting should proceed without interruption. The situation prompted a heightened security presence in the conference room as tensions mounted. The Minority held firm in its stance, insisting that no further nominees should be vetted, pointing out that an agreement had been made to vet just four nominees and adjourn for the day. As the clash between the two factions continued, the committee’s work came to a standstill, with both sides refusing to back down from their positions.
